Winter 2013 Look Book preview : Grey Gardens

I dreaded sunny gates, so I'll meet you at the cemetery gates/ Keats and Yeats are on your side...

I still believe quoting song lyrics is particularly silly, especially if you're not a teen anymore, but my love for The Smiths is obviously still strong and I mean how could you NOT mention one of the best songs about Père Lachaise when doing a photo shoot there?

Some of you might find this a little creepy, but who does dark, decaying and depressing better than the French? To me, there's nothing more appropriate for a winter shoot than French cemeteries. After all, these are basically the best parks within Paris (no, seriously).

Also, we almost never get any snow here, so the landscape looks pretty much the same all through November-April (March if we're lucky), only getting more dark, cold and grey as the months pass.

Grey Gardens is a great reference to me for this atmosphere of a long gone glorious past, living ruins and the beauty of obsolete eccentricity.

We've been having a little more sunshine for a change, yet we had a week of romantic ruins activities - freezing my ass off in Père Lachaise, doing a school field trip to Le Desert de Retz...

Call me morbid, but I think it's a refreshing change from the glitter overload and plastic Christmas trees that have basically taken over the city (and the Internet) already.

It's been quite a challenge shooting and while this is only a mini-collection, I think it captures the best things about the Parisian winter - velvet, black and overcast days.

I should be able to finish editing and share the rest of the photos by Tuesday, then start adding items to the shop the following day, so stay tuned!

Fall 2013 Look Book Preview : Annie Get Your Gun!

       Hello everyone!

Hope you had a nice weekend.

Here are the promised shots from the upcoming Last Tango in Paris fall look book, heavily inspired by Western imagerie and early Joanna Newsom in Gunne Sax dresses.
I still have a lot of editing to do as we always take too many photos and then it takes me FOREVER to pick, choose and pimp.

The final selection should be up by Tuesday Wednesday, then all these lovely prairie dresses and 40s inspired Austrian cardigans should be in the shop no later than Friday, as I still need to re-iron all the clothes and take proper dress form pics (and yes, it's a drag! but such a fancy one nonetheless).

In the meanwhile don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY for a shot at vintage goodies!

Preview: Mid Summer 2013 Look Book

... with a little delay, here's what I've been working on over the past two weeks! Our new summer look book! It's the last shopping call before the big vacation and preparing for autumn...

It's been in the 90s here constantly for a while now and they say it's gonna stay like that for a while.

So, long story short the main inspiration has been Sweet Movie and vacation vibes in Paris. Which means I raided my closet (that very special precious dresses trunk part of the closet actually) and the usual scoring spots and came up with pretty much the cutest dresses around.

It's heartbreaking to say goodbye to all of these beauties, but I'm trying to finance my trip home this summer, so sacrifices need to be made. There's treasures from the 30s to the 80s, with a lot of novelty prints and sailor accents.

Full look book tomorrow, the dresses will be in the shop on Thursday. Until then you can of course make me an offer on the old inventory and enjoy a little discount on this lovely heat-fighting dress.

The Sun Hunters

Hello darlings!

The weather has finally started to move towards more normal temperatures around here. It still doesn't feel like spring yet, not to mention summer.

However, I noticed that somewhere between the late afternoon and sunset there has started to be more and more sunshine. Very tricky sunshine, I must add!

Like you look out the window and think ''oh it's sunny out let's take some photos!'' and by teh time you change and get your camera it's all gone...

So this is what I've been doing this weekend - hunting for the sun. I did freeze my bones off and cursed the wind and the changing clouds, but I'm pretty happy with the results in the end.

Here's a little taste of what you'll be finding in the shop this week : sun and party dresses, cute and cozy cardigans and fun accessories.

In the meantime every dress is linked to the film it references, for sheer cinephile delight.

Enjoy!
